In 1947, both India and Pakistan gained independence from British Rule. While both fought as one nation, the seed of communalism sowed by the British consumed the Indian Muslims who demanded a separate nation of Pakistan. The riots following India Pakistan partition lead to deaths of millions of people on both sides and the Pakistanis getting a separate country for themselves tried every possible means to hurt India.
Pakistans wish to see India bleed led to three India Pakistan wars one of which was the 1971 war which eventually led to the creation of Bangladesh and surrender of Pakistan and Pakistani forces in Dhaka.
While India has remained a democracy throughout the last 65 years, almost every democratically elected Pakistan Government has been toppled by the Army in that country. From 1980s onwards high economic growth and socio-economic reforms have kept India Shining while feudalism and Talibanisation has consumed Pakistan.
Today India and US are closer to each other than ever. India in the 21st century is seen as a major world power whereas the popular perception about Pakistan is that it is a trouble maker. The Nuclear Deal between India and America vindicates the claim that India is a responsible nuclear power which can be fully trusted on non-proliferation.
